No Paula for next Season's Idol

Just a week after it was announced that Ryan Seacrest had scored a deal to make him the highest paid reality show host ever, there seems to be some debate on whether or not Paula Abdul will be returning for season 9 of the highly rated show.

However, fellow judge Simon Cowell told Extra,

"She'll be fine. She'll be on the show, I don't get a lot of say. I've just made it clear that I want Paula on the show."

Paula's manager David Sonenberg raised concern over the weekend, telling the Los Angeles Times that the singer-dancer hasn't been offered a contract yet.

"She's not a happy camper as a result of what's going on. She's hurt," he told the paper.

Mind you, sometimes I personally find Paula a bit over the top, I still can't imagine the show without her.

Ryan Seacrest = Highest Paid Reality Host

Forget scripted shows, the real money is clearly in reality shows. Ryan Seacrest just signed on to host Idol for another 3 seasons for a whopping $45 Million!!!

I'm sure he never expected that little show would make him sooo bankable...

Wonder if he has a sidekick...

American Idol gets a New Judge

So a brutally honest Simon, an overly nice Paul and the big Dawg himself Randy won't be the only persons that this year's crop of Idol wannabees will have to contend with.

Kara DioGuardi has joined Paula, Simon and Randy as a fourth judge for the 8th Season of the cult hit.

Kara is a songwriter and producer who has penned hits such as Nick Lachey's, What's Left of Me as well as produced songs for Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion and Enrique Iglesias to name a few.

The 37-year-old will sit alongside Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson and use her background as a songwriter/producer in the eighth season of American Idol come January 2009.

My only question is who will break the ties now???

David Cook

When I saw these pics I knew i had to post them. I think they capture the essence of David Cook at the triumphant end of his American Idol journey perfectly.

He really does seem like such a sweet guy.

DAVID COOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never in my life have I been happier to be wrong....David Cook is this year's American Idol and believe you me I was crying right along with him. I honestly believe it is well deserved on his part and while you David A. did admirably too, Cook can make more of this opportumity now - David A. is younger so by extension his marketability window is open for a few more years.

And what made it a great journey to watch for David C is how consistently humble he presented himself to be. He made me smile with his charm and charisma....

He was my Idol from day one and especially after he stole my heart with Always be my Baby so Congratulations to him....

Believe I will be on line to buy his record later this year.

Final Two

In what was probably one of the most predictable season American Idol has had in years, we're down to the Davids and so far what a show....David Cook opened the show with U2's I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For and he absolutely KILLED it. But I'm slightly biased.

David Archuleta on the other hand did have a pretty impressive first song as well with Sir Elton's Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me. His vocals were on point.

Cook just sang the writer's choice. Nice song. His voice is strong and it shows....

More to come...

UPDATE...

The show isn't even finished yet but David Archuleta sooooo just won American Idol.

Taylor Hicks takes on Broadway

In a move that seems to be the trend now with American Idol Alums, Taylor Hicks will be making the move to the Great White Way to play Teen Angel in Grease beginning June 6th.

Taylor will follow fellow idol alumni Fantasia (Colour Purple), Diana Degarmo (Hairspray) Frenchie (Rent), Constantine Maroulis (The Wedding Singer) and Tamyra Gray (Rent).

I saw Tamyra in Rent last Thanksgiving and she was absolutely stunning. Her portrayal of Mimi brought tears to my eyes....

Kooky Paula

Ok so American Idol is supposed to be a LIVE show but last night Paula acted wird, even for her...

After the contestants had all sung their first song, she critiqued Jason Castro as if he had performed twice. What was up with that??

I figured the net would have been all a buzz with this one today and I was right. My other thought was that maybe she had seen a dress rehearsal and had made her notes based on that, but who knows.

See for yourself...

American Idol Spoiler

Spoiler ahead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

American Idol kept us in good suspense tonight. From the very beginning I kept saying that tonight couldn't possibly be an elimination because it was Charity week and come on having an elimination this week would have been like throwing salt in an open wound. But they did it and the bottom three completely threw me for a loop.

So who went home???

This completely shocked me. I honestly had Michael to go pretty far - not necessarily the winner but far enough.

Oh well as is common with Idol rejects now, he'll probably end up with a recording deal and eventually be successful anyhow so good for him.
